Dreams and Vision

Dreams and Visions
History has taught us of battles worn as result of significant dreams commanders of the armies had. In the bible, the same is recorded; nations and people’s lives have been saved from catastrophes, defeat, or even shame due to dreams and their correct interpretations.

Dreams and Visions are again being accepted as genuine portals of revelation from the Lord. Though the topic is very complex and understanding dream language requires persistency to listening to the Holy Spirit and continual reading and understanding of the Bible, much has already been conferred to our understanding. The Holy Spirit has unraveled the mystery of dreams and visions to our Christian forefathers who operated in these gifts before our time. Amazingly, the last couple of years the lord has continued to give more revelations to the importance and relevance of dreams in the Christian circles. Numerous books have been written on the subject and a great number is yet to be written. The more we sit with the Holy Spirit; there is always a room for improvement to our listening abilities, as such, more books are yet to come on this subject.

The Lord has been giving people instructions concerning their destiny, and purpose in life when they are asleep. With so many distractions in America unfortunately, it’s very hard for many to hear God when they are awake. Televisions, cell phones, cars, billboards, computers, games, internet, radios and many other mechanisms of distractions scream to us every day while at home or outside the security of our homes. As such, even when the lord speaks, many do not hear; refer to (Pro. 1:28; Isa.55:12 & Isa. 66:4). However, the lord comes and speaks to us at the moment when we are not distracted, sleeping in the bed.

Prophetic persons do not typically wait until bedtime to hear from the Lord. They hear the Lord asleep or awake. They read through different signs and symbol the lord present in nature and creation (Rom. 1:20). The Lord makes himself known to the prophet in a vision and speaks to the same in a dream (Num. 12:6). Dreams are like putting instruction in an envelope to the one having the dream. It could also be looked like a scavenger hunt clue, where one has all the necessary clues to find the treasure.

Many people said dreams occur at night and visions are during the day, however, several passages in the scriptures indicated visions that occurred at night when a person is in their beds asleep (Dan. 7:1; Acts 16:9-10; 18:9-11).

John Paul Jackson of Streams Ministries International, referred to vision as “literal” and dreams as “symbolic,” revelations. Actually, he called dreams “God’s night parables” due to symbolism often contained in them. Though Dreams are full of symbolism, it is a language which can be understood. I believe most of our dreams are a result of God trying to talk to us. When one wakes up after some dreams, they understood exactly what the dream meant, yet there are many dreams which require kin interpretations.

Understanding dream symbolism or language helps the individual take hold of what God is trying to say through the dream. Though several variables affect and influence an individual’s dreams (Ecclesiastes. 5:3), God uses dreams immensely to communicate with his people. “And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream,” (Numbers 12:5-6).

God makes himself known to the prophet in visions and speaks to the prophet in dreams. We are living in a very strategic time in the history of creation of the universe where God is multiplying dreams and visions for our benefit in preaching and extending his kingdom in this planet EARTH. Read what the Lord says through prophet Hosea; “I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and gave symbols (dreams), by the witness of the prophets” (Hos. 12:10).
“For God speaks once, yea twice, yet man perceives it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumbering upon the bed; Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, That he may turn man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword,” (Job 33:14-18).
